Vanco's Environmental Policy

Environmental Health
Environmental health encompasses those aspects of health that are determined by physical, chemical, biological and social factors in the environment, and the practice of assessing, correcting, controlling and preventing those factors in the environment that can potentially adversely affect the health of present and future generations.

Healthy Environment
The Company seeks to provide a healthy environment for its employees through the creation of a high quality working environment. Employees have a responsibility to ensure they are exposed to minimal health risks both within the building and within the boundaries of the Company site. Employees should ensure that they do not drop litter on the site, and are encouraged to take this attitude away from the work environment as well. The Company also promotes the protection, conservation and enhancement of the natural and cultural heritage within its immediate environment in the local community. In support of a healthy environment, employees are also encouraged, where practicable, to use public transport, or to car-share. Through the Company’s award winning benefit scheme, v:choice, it is also now possible to purchase a bicycle tax free.

Green Meetings
Co2 and other harmful gases produced by travelling in cars and planes have a dire effect on the environment. Vanco recognise this and actively encourages conference call meetings rather than travelling to other destinations to discuss business matters. The Company still understands the importance of ‘face time’, and are therefore proactively pushing the use of video conferencing as a means of business interaction.

Energy Efficiency
The Company is committed to responsible energy management through reduced consumption and encourages employees to consider an energy efficient approach wherever possible within their own working environment. Lighting at the new Vanco UK Headquarters is sensor activated, automatically switching off after 15 minutes in areas where there has been no movement.

Waste Minimisation and Recycling
The Company aims to minimize waste by reduced consumption and the development of effective waste management and recycling procedures. All of the paper that the Company uses is now 100% recycled paper. Printer cartridges are refilled and reused, and employees are encouraged to recycle old mobile telephone handsets.

Hazardous Materials
The Company commits to the avoidance of the unnecessary use of hazardous materials and processes, and the taking of all reasonable steps to prevent damage to either public or ecological health where such materials are in essential use.

Suppliers
The Company aims to select products and suppliers which minimize negative environmental impacts.

Compliance with Legislation
All employees should comply with any relevant legislation relating to health and safety within the working environment and within the community where this impacts the Company.

The Company’s aim is to comply with legislation pertinent to environmental protection in each country where we operate.
